Up for Consideration - A Brand Spanking New Probett '59
Have you ever imagined how great it would be if your LP style guitar didn't weigh a ton and you could actually play it comfortably while sitting? Ever wanted easier upper fret access while playing your favorite set neck single cut guitar? Ya ya, that's asking too much. We'll remain willing to compromise all those things because of THAT tone (don't even get me started on that one).
Well, it is actually possible to get all of that without using a magic wand and/or spending 10K+ on your instrument.
Answer is coming from England and it's called Rocket '59.
Master luthier Damian Probett sussed this by out using old techniques (long tenon neck joint, traditional unplasticised nitrocellulose lacquer, shaping neck to body joints and fingerboards as well as necks and bodies by hand) with help of CNC machines to make sure that a final product is done in a timely manner and with the best possible outcome.
The finish on this guitar is outstanding, a thin nitrocellulose lacquer that allows wood to "speak". It feels incredible, with no sticky feeling. We choose "Lemonburst" finish on this '59 to accent beautiful 3D maple top.
Playing this guitar is a pure joy, it really feels like a well broken in vintage piece that you are familiar with for decades. Tummy cut, neck joint and lower bout are incredibly well thought out. All together, this instrument makes you play better and effortlessly. It is a highest quality guitar at a fraction of a cost of its competitors.
Damian is in possession of amazing stash of old growth mahogany and grain on this ONE piece body and neck (try to find that these days) is most beautiful I've encountered in decades.
All that leads us to tone, a most subjective thing to describe. Everybody able to hear this guitar unanimously agreed on one thing, the 59 is an amazing classic rock and roll machine.
Its a very resonant guitar with amazing sustain and great string separation. Great touch sensitivity and responsive volume and tone controls make this '59 a very versatile instrument.
If you are on a hunt for the perfect "LP" look no further..
